Comparing

here are pics of Gracie and Lucy, both at about 9 months old in the same hat!

Lucy crawling here is a video

Lulu is now a full fledged crawler, we have been in a mad rush to child proof the house, moving tv and stereo equip, putting plug covers in, and locking drawers, she just never stops, always on the go exploring, it's great! It all just happened in about 10 seconds on Monday she started going forwards, Gracie was never as inquisitive as Lu is, they are night and day!Gracie started crawling at 6 months so a lot earlier (Lu just turned 9 mos on the 19th) but then again it was a different house and we are convinced all the hardwood floors helped Gracie learn faster, but she was content to just slip around the floor and didn't go for cords, tv's, plugs etc like Lucy does. It's fun.

outfit from Granny

Well now that Lulu's hair is darned red, I'm not sure pink is going to be her color, which isn't great because Gracie loved pink so all the hand me downs are that color!

the curls

So Lu apparently now is an official curly head! Hopefully she won't want to wear dish towels on her head pretending it's long straight blond hair like her mother did! She has beautiful little curls which I get... but the red hair? No idea on that one!

Lucy loves technology

Ok, Lucy loves anything computer related. forget all the fancy expensive baby toys, she would rather play with the USB cords any day. Now that she can crawl anywhere and everywhere, nothing is safe around here. Today Lu has the sniffles and snuffles and is a tad grumpy! Gracie is at school despite pretending to throw up so she could stay home and watch Bambi for the 1000th time! I am trying to keep yet another headache at bay for the 10th day in a row, ich!

A great day in the world

Lucy cheers for Obama!

Lulu trying to crawl

Here is a short clip of Lu playing around on the floor, not too exciting but something...

quiet time

Finally it seems that the quiet has arrived after a very festive and busy holiday season with Christmas, New Year's, my birthday and a trip to Whistler. Paul has taken Gracie out to lunch and for an adventure at Carbella's a hunting and fishing store, don't ask.... and Lulu is here trying to crawl. She gets very mad and just can't quite get the nerve to take that first move forward but she does have the backwards part done pat!

Weekend in Whistler

Agh so sad to be home again but it was great fun, even if the drive home which should have been 4 hours took seven because of bad roads, horrible snow. Although it did help end the trip to drive all the way home in a snowstorm and so unusual for Seattle to have more snow falling then Whistler.

The drive up took five hours and after we settled in our very posh hotel room ( usually goes for $760.00 a night, we paid less then half that) we went and tried to eat dinner which would have taken forever so we ended up at the ugh Keg. Then we went and got my skis and Gracie's gear. She was so excited! Then Friday we got up and got Gracie settled in her ski school, got Lulu settled with her nanny for the day and then Paul and I hit the slopes. Poor Paul had a rough time getting used to his new snowboard boots and really had a bad day and since it was my first time in 5 years we took it very slow, but ahhh the difference to ski on shaped skis! It was like riding a bike for me!

We went all over Blackcomb (taking the same Gondola that collapsed a week ago), took the Peak 2 peak Gondola (beautiful but very high and kind of scary) and then tried to find Gracie so we could spy on her class. Then we stopped for the day, checked in on Lulu and then P and I went and had a nice child free lunch then picked up Gracie who had had a blast in her ski school. We ate in hotel room that night after a dip in the hot tubs!

Saturday Paul got up early to take part in the Fresh Tracks where he was one of a few hundred people to be the first on the hill, and the girls and I walked around the pretty snowy village then went back to our room and played in the big soaker bathtub. Then Paul came back and off we went to our horse drawn sleigh ride, lots of fun but too short! Since it was my birthday we had made reservations at Seven, and had a delicious Vietnamese dinner by a fire. Then home to bed and sadly, left after packing and started the marathon drive home -7 hours - including driving around the village more and then a 50 minute wait at the border except that we snuck through on the truck crossing blaming the need to get through on two screaming girls! It was a fabulous weekend!!

Whistler - our room

Whistler pics - ski bunny

And by Ski bunny I do mean Gracie, she was so thrilled to walk around the hotel room in her helmet, goggles and ski boots!

Whistler pics - Paul and Wendy skiing

Hard to believe it was my first time in what.. five years! Whistler was awesome but very cold! We took the new Peak to peak gondola, very scary but the day was awesome and invigorating!

Whistler pics - bfast spot and ski school

Here are three pics of our awesome breakfast spot, the Dubb Linn Gate in our hotel, just steps from the Blackcomb gondola, and here are two pics of Gracie from a far at her ski school. Paul and I spied on her as they asked us not to get too close, she was awesome and her teacher told us she was ahead of the class! She was the only kid in the class to actually ski that day! We are so proud of our little athlete! That is Gracie in the BLUE!!!

Whistler pics - roses and sleigh rides

So Paul had these beautiful roses delivered to the hotel room for my birthday, a lovely surprise. We had a great if not cold sleigh ride through Blackcomb mountain with these two gorgeous Percheron horses, Clyde and Jacob! It was great fun and all too short!
